BUSINESS: JAKARTA. Dayamitra Telekomunikasi (Mitratel), a unit of the nation’s biggest telephone company, Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom), has secured a Rp 1 trillion lending facility from Indonesia's biggest lender, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), for capital expenditure this year.
In a statement released Wednesday, BRI says the Rp 1 trillion, obtained through a six-year loan facility, would be used by Mitratel to build and acquire towers and supporting facilities.
“The telecommunications sector has good growth potential, because telecommunications is among the most important facilities supporting various activities in people’s lives,” BRI director Djarot Kusumayakti says.
At present, BRI’s credit ceiling for Telkom Group stands at Rp 6.8 trillion, Rp 5 trilliom of which has been allocated for the parent company, Rp 800 billion for Telkomsel, and the remaining Rp 1 trillion for Mitratel.
“In future, BRI will support Telkom Group’s business plan for investment as a form of commitment to increase business cooperation between Telkom and Bank BRI,” the statement says. (Esther Samboh/ The Jakarta Post)
