Business: RI Explore Oil and Gas Investment in East Timor?

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Indonesian government interested in investing in East Timor. Some sectors are mentioning is the development of infrastructure and oil and gas sector.
Thus it is submitted the Special Staff of President of International Relations Division Teuku Faizasyah after accompanying President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Timor Leste Xanana Gusmao at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Tuesday (03/22/2011).
"This prospect is what is being studied. The Indonesian government responded positively to an invitation to invest in Timor Leste," he told reporters.
At the bilateral meeting, both heads of state signed five memoranda of understanding (MoU) and a letter of intent. Fifth memorandum of understanding that includes cooperation in education and diplomatic training, capacity building in public works, tourism and industry, infrastructure development, and decentralization of technical cooperation. Meanwhile, the Letter of Intent relating to marine and fisheries sector.
Meanwhile, the government of Timor Leste expressed interest in buying military equipment produced in Indonesia. Upon this, Faiza said the Indonesian government is ready to provide export credit.
On occasion, the two heads of state also agreed to accelerate the settlement of border issues and enhance cooperation in border management.
The meeting which lasted about an hour is said to take place with a positive, productive, and friendly. Xanana was accompanied, among others, Foreign Minister Zacarias da Costa, Minister of Economy and Development, Joao Goncalves, Infrastructure Minister Pedro Lay da Silva, Minister of Tourism, Trade and Industry Gil Alves, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Mariano Sabino Assanami, Defense Minister Julio Tomas Pinto, Armed Forces Commander Major General Taur Matan Ruak, East Timor's ambassador to Indonesia Manuel Serrano, and others.
Meanwhile, President Yudhoyono was accompanied by Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, State Secretary Sudi Silalahi, Trade Minister Mari Elka Pangestu, Minister of Defense Yusgiantoro, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Fadel Muhammad, Commander of TNI Laksamanan Agus Suhartono, as well as Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam.
